Cheryl “We were dancing in the Progressive Barn Dance and as we fleetingly met and passed on to the next partner, our eyes did not leave each other. John was at the dance with his two mates and I had come with my girlfriend, as my brother played in the band. John came next bracket to ask me to dance and we have been together ever since. We have danced old time, rock and roll, Latin, social ballroom and now our passion is for the beautiful close embrace of Argentine Tango.”
Nik and Merilyn are long term committee members of the The Coomera School of Arts, an 118 year old hall, still in its original condition, with very minor repair work undertaken with the loving care of multiple generations of families that have grown up on ‘the district’. Many of the current committee members are third and fourth generations, running dance nights, now held monthly.
The Cassettes are a fabulous 80's Flashmob dance school. Their mission is to bring colour, beauty and genuine friggin’ fun into the world: through unique and entertaining dance-theatre. Preferably while wearing sexy Latino police outfits.
Yvonne and Maurie also committee members of the The Coomera School of Arts. They meet at the hall, as did many of the other dancers still attending the dance night. Yvonne’s father played button accordion in the hall for the returning service men in WW2.
