Nick Lavers is a musician, music teacher, arranger and musical director.Throughout the 2000’s he worked as band manager, band leader and performer in the Australian gypsy/roots band Doch gaining national recognition for his artistic vision and organisational skills.

 

Larger projects with Doch where Nick worked with the ensemble as musical director, included annual seasons of the Doch Gypsy Orchestra, a 30-piece band performing and recording gypsy repertoire, and two stage shows: Doch and the Great Siberian Circus presented at QPAC and the Woodford Folk Festival and the similarly themed Doch and the CIrcus, presented at QPAC. Doch also presented multiple sell out seasons at the Brisbane Powerhouse and toured to Sydney Festival and the Brunswick Music Festival.

 

Since 2005 Nick has worked as Musical Director of the Woodford Fire Event, the official Closing Ceremony of the Woodford Folk Festival and one of Australia’s largest outdoor theatrical events, which involves a 200 -300 person choir and peoples’ orchestra of similar size plus feature musicians from the Woodford Folk Festival program and original composed music.

Elizabeth Woods is an Australian artist, educator and consultant whose practice focuses on developing relationships between art, site and the community.

 

For the past 10 years her research has focused on the implementation of temporary based site-specific artwork for the general public internationally and nationally. Since 2003 she has regularly travelled internationally, creating community base artworks and exhibitions, particularly in France with the support of UNESCO Bursary for a 3-month residency.

 

Her work has been featured in many nationally profiled group exhibitions for example, at Carnegie Gallery Hobart, Art Workers Alliance Southbank Brisbane, Landscapers Travelling exhibition at various sites throughout Brisbane CBD, Judith Wright Centre Brisbane, Maroochydore Botanical Gardens, Rockhampton Gallery and Ten Days on the Island Festival.

 

Significant commissions include: “3 Points make a plane” Temporary art installation SOPA Sydney 2013, Grey Street temporary work Southbank Corporation Brisbane, Burnett Laneway, Brisbane CBD 2010, Dalby Hospital Queensland Health, Great Walks EPA Queensland Australia 2005, Nambour Hospital Queensland Health Women’s Health Clinic 2003.

Well known in Brisbane from their five-year residency at The Bowery, The Rooftops continue to deliver infectious, feet-friendly grooves, soulful storytelling and sun-drenched vibes everywhere they go.

Their highly-acclaimed debut at the Woodford Folk Festival in 2010 launched them into a string of festival appearances across the country. It was there that they met Darren Percival who went on to produce their 3rd studio album, 'A Hundred Different Lives'.   

On the 2013 release of their fourth studio album “Everything to Everyone” they toured Cambodia, the part-time residence of frontman Euan Gray and the inspiration behind many of their songs.  

 

The Rooftops are celebrating their 10th birthday this year with the release of a brand new song 'Think of Me Last', featuring a string section, The Brisbane City Hall organ and the 100-member Brisbane Choral choir!

Nadia Sunde

A 2013 APRA Art Music & QMusic award winner, Nadia Sunde is an accomplished songwriter, cabaret artist, comedienne and actress. With one foot in the ridiculous and the other in sublime, Nadia revels in in the play space between audience and stage, artfully portraying her characters from a heart full of humour and hope. Prepare to fall in love.

An accomplished singer/songwriter and cabaret performer her wry sense of humour and quick wit have added their distinct flavour to her almost poetic lyricism. A regular performer at previous Bleach* Festival’s Nadia is renowned for her theatrical contributions with shows including: The Treasure of Captain Curlylocks, Nadia & The Blue Flamingo and The Surfer and The Mermaid. Nadia is also well respected for her work as a comedy character actress…who can forget her Eurodance Queen 'Slavka' from Bleach* 2014.

 

As part of Bleach* 2015, Nadia takes to the stage again as a lead performer in The Inaugural Annual Dance Affair. Her hilarious and heartwarming character Ngaire Bogalo will make you fall in love with love all over again as she continues on her earnest quest for the dream dance partner.

Kristian Santic

Performer Bleach* Festival Performance 2015

The Inaugural Annual Dance Affair, designer, artist, Bleach Festival

After graduating from the University of Queensland in 2013 with a Bachelor of Creative Arts, Kristian studied with a Grotowski-inspired gypsy-dance troupe Double Edge Theatre ensemble (Massachusetts), performing in The Wasteland Project, a devised adaptation of The Divine Comedy (Dante). In 2014 he performed in Little Boxes at Brisbane’s Anywhere Theatre Festival, Bald Heads & Blue Stars (hosted by USQ, dir. by David Burton), QPAC’s American Music Club (Brisbane Festival), G20 celebrations with Polytoxic Dance Theatre Company, Salomé after Charles Mee (“Awkward Conversations”, dir. by Steven Mitchell Wright) and Woodford Folk Festival (Fire Event).

 

2015 has brought The Seagull at Metro Arts (dir. Kate Wild, Now Look Here Theatre), One of them is named Brett (dir. Roger Graef, BBC), The Annual Renaissance Faire (dir. Underground Prod.), West Village Grand Opening (Polytoxic), and Dance of Water and Fire (The Planting Festival).

 

Kristian takes to the floor in The Inaugural Annual Dance Affair, as Bell Boy, a wordless but hilarious assistant to the MC. As a highly physical performer Krisitan needs only the language of his body as he guides auidences through the ultimate dance hall experience.

Studio byronc is a freelance multi-disciplinary design studio which is run by graphic artist and visual artist, Byron Coathup. The studio is located in the beautiful coastal town called Coolangatta, Queensland. We are dedicated to making great design for local businesses and companies on the Gold Coast and surrounding cities.

Studio byronc is particularly interested in multi-disciplined design and art direction, we feel this is the way for design to better the future. We not only solve graphic design problems but we like also to solve other creative problems for businesses. Whether new ideas need to be generated or art direction is needed for video, interior design, signage or advertising, we are more then happy to help. And most of all, It’s all about keeping it unique and personal.

 

Byron has created The Inaugural Annual logo and design.
